The year is 1958

The year is 1958; a young boy was given a class assignment of what you want to be when you grow up. The young child wrote down on paper that he wanted to be President of the United States.  His teacher picked up the piece of paper and made him stand before his classroom of 34 students as she proceeded to explain to him in no uncertain terms that it was impossible for him to become president. Furthermore, he should not even think about going to college. He should think about doing something practical like a service job, or   driving a truck. This little child went home heartbroken, and very upset where as his mother asked him what was wrong. He showed her the paper with a failing grade on it and his mother did her best trying toexplained why he couldn’t have that particular dream. In her own way she tried to offer alternatives like becoming a pastor, owning a funeral parlor, his grandmother offered her advice by telling him that barbers do ok. And there is nothing wrong with being a cook.  If you finish school, you may luck out and get a job as a garbage man for the city.

You see folks I was that child. A black kid with a lot of dreams and everywhere I turned there was always people putting obstacles in my way. You see I am a black kid from Chicago and my teacher was white. She, like my mother and grandmother never in their wildest imagination would ever believe a black person would be running for President of the United States. That was then this is now. On this day, June 3, 2008, as I witness a dream become reality and hope become alive.  I realize that Senator Barack Obama has a long way to go.  I understand that there are many who came before him.  I, better than most, understand knowing the mood of this country that he may not make it to the final goal. I hope and pray that he succeeds.  I believe he will be great for America and great for the world. I understand if he doesn’t because as Ted Kennedy once said… “the hope still lives and the dream shall never dies.”

On this particular day, Senator Obama has given new life and hope to that dream. From this point on black kids, Hispanic kids, white kids, male or female can stand up and say they want to be President of the United States and his or her teacher will have to look at that child straight in the face and say yes you can.

Remember Villagers treat folks the way you like to be treated.

Global Village Monitor congratulate Senator Barack Obama

Global Village Monitor would like to congratulate Senator Barack Obama for winning the Democratic nomination for President. We would also like to congratulate Sen. Hillary Clinton for her heroic run.  Both of these individuals changed history forever in their own unique way. From this moment on, when a teacher asks a student what they want to be. That child can raise their hand and say I want to be the President of the United States. That teacher can look into that child’s eyes and say… yes you can. You can be anything that you dream to be no matter if you are black, white, brown, male or female.

June 3, 2008 is the day that changed history and the state of Montana (the big sky state) will forever be linked as the state that made it possible for the 1st African American to become the leader of a major national political party. I am truly stunned; I didn’t think he would ever get this far. Once again congratulations on a job well done.

First of all let me start by saying that I am a believer, a member of the apostolic faith, the church I occasionally attend is the Temple of Greater Bethel in Phoenix, AZ. If you talk to my wife or pastor they will probably say that I don’t attend enough. But that is not the point.
I have been attending church services off and on for most of my life never realizing that the services I was hearing was called “Liberation Theology. Most of your speeches I have found very enlightening and informative and I agree with most of the things you said. There are ministers in my domination who have been saying the same thing for years, maybe not quite as eloquent as you put it, but basically the same message.

Obama to Jimbo: I didn‘t know until this day that it was Clintons all along.

The Clintons have been bashing Senator Obama and may even won votes based on the story that Obama had publicly railed against NAFTA while a memo by a Canadian diplomat claimed that Obama‘s campaign secretly assured them his stand, quote, “Should be viewed as more about political positioning than a clear articulation of policy plans.”

Obama‘s adviser denied speaking those words and now, we learned a much higher source from Canada revealed late last month that the NAFTA promises came from a very different source—the Clinton campaign. According to an unnamed source speaking to that nation‘s equivalent of the “Associated Press”, the “Canadian Press”, it was Clinton‘s campaign that contacted the Canadian government to reassure them about Clinton‘s anti-NAFTA rhetoric.

The “Canadian Press” reporting that the source heard the chief of staff to Canada‘s prime minister saying in a room full of television journalists, quote, “Someone from Clinton‘s campaign is telling the embassy to take it with a grain of salt. Someone called us and told us not to worry.”

We need not say any more for now,

Clintons rallies, Slowing Obama’s momentum and McCain finish strong

The Clintons wins three of four primaries, reviving their campaign and setting the stage for a long duel for the Democratic nomination.
USA Domestic Politics – - Closing the book on the race for the Republican presidential nomination, with Arizona Sen. John McCain winning four states and the delegates needed to become his party’s standard-bearer in November.

For Democrats, a day they hope would bring similar clarity ended in further uncertainty.

The Clintons reversed an 12-contest losing streak with victories in Ohio, Texas, and Rhode Island, resurrecting their campaign and making a credible case for continuing a difficult fight against Sen. Barack Obama.

Though Senator McCain’s triumph had been expected since Super Tuesday a month ago, his sealing the nomination is a remarkable justification for a man whose campaign was taken for dead over the summer.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a determine candidate who won the lead-off state of Iowa and then stayed in the race despite a sizeable delegate deficit, said Tuesday night he is dropping out.

President Bush is expected to endorse McCain at the White House Wednesday, a symbolic step that analysts say will help unite the party and win over conservatives skeptical of the Senator.

“Now we begin the most important part of our campaign – to make a respectful, determined, and convincing case to the American people that our campaign and my election as president … are in the best interests of the country we love,” McCain told supporters Tuesday in Dallas.

For The Clintons, the seven weeks until the next major primary, in Pennsylvania on April 22, buy them ample time to raise money, sharpen attacks on their rival, and convince the elected officials and party leaders known as superdelegates that They are still a contender.

The Clintons narrowly won the primary in Texas, which saw a record turnout of more than 3.5 million voters. But Senator Obama was ahead early Wednesday in the state’s post-primary caucus, which divide up 67 of the state’s 193 pledged delegates.

The Clintons would have been hard-pressed to go on without winning at least one of the two big states, analysts said. Mrs. Clinton husband, former President Bill Clinton, had set an even higher bar, saying victories were crucial in both Texas and Ohio.

McCain Wrong On This One

Sen. John McCain is the republican party front runner for the 2008 presidential nomination. He stated that we could be in Iraq for a 100 years and that is okay with him. We realize that politicians speak before they think occasionally; but whether he meant it or not, it is part of his campaign platform. This gives us an insight into what he is thinking and what type of leader he would be for our nation.

Senator John McCain is okay with our children and our grandchildren and their children fighting and dying in a war that the majority of the world believe was a mistake? We don’t know about you, but we have a problem with that statement.

To be fair, we opposed this war in Iraq from the very beginning, we personally thought the President, Vice President and Secretary of Defense have all collectively lost their minds. Now some 4000 deaths later the next leader of the republican party states that he has no problem with our sons and daughters fighting in Iraq for the next 100 years. We, the staff , as small as we are say in the strongest possible terms. Hell No!
