That it was the Clintons
March 12, 2008 by Jim · Leave a Comment
Obama to Jimbo: I didn‘t know until this day that it was Clintons all along.
The Clintons have been bashing Senator Obama and may even won votes based on the story that Obama had publicly railed against NAFTA while a memo by a Canadian diplomat claimed that Obama‘s campaign secretly assured them his stand, quote, “Should be viewed as more about political positioning than a clear articulation of policy plans.”
Obama‘s adviser denied speaking those words and now, we learned a much higher source from Canada revealed late last month that the NAFTA promises came from a very different source—the Clinton campaign. According to an unnamed source speaking to that nation‘s equivalent of the “Associated Press”, the “Canadian Press”, it was Clinton‘s campaign that contacted the Canadian government to reassure them about Clinton‘s anti-NAFTA rhetoric.
The “Canadian Press” reporting that the source heard the chief of staff to Canada‘s prime minister saying in a room full of television journalists, quote, “Someone from Clinton‘s campaign is telling the embassy to take it with a grain of salt. Someone called us and told us not to worry.”
We need not say any more for now,
But rest assure you will not be hearing the last of this…
Bigotry Raises its Ugly Head at the FCC

Beyond The Rhetoric
A few months ago, Black and Latino advocacy groups, such as the National Black Chamber of Commerce, were shocked to learn that the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) derided us as incapable of writing articulate position papers and filing official comments to the FCC.
He did this while addressing the very conservative Aspen Institute in Colorado. He called us by name and said anything we file at the FCC must be written by White entities that pay or persuade us to lend our names and reputations to their cause. His point was that we colored groups don’t know anything about pertinent issues at the FCC and suffered from low intellect. President Bush has used the term “soft bigotry of low expectations”.
Well, it seems that he has appointed an FCC Chairman who goes well beyond the “Soft Bigotry”. This here is cold-blooded hard core bigotry. [ Read More Story...]

No Hail Mary for Hillary
March 10, 2008 by Editor · Leave a Comment
The final Democratic debate produces no miracles for the grouchy former front-runner.
Yes, those MSNBC moderators did seem to like Obama better, but even when she’s right she sounds wrong.
All the gripes from Hillary Clinton’s campaign about press coverage seemed to be completely, definitively validated midway through Tuesday night’s debate — at the instant when Brian Williams, intending to throw Barack Obama a hardball, instead accidentally cued up a tape of Clinton mocking him, and then asked Obama, “How were her comments about you unfair?” [ Read More Story ...]

Two studies in the charisma of hope Obama and Bill Clinton
March 10, 2008 by Editor · Leave a Comment
One of the advertising posters prominently on view in New York City’s subways these days shows a man’s head in silhouette beneath a dreamy blue bubble inside of which is this caption: “If I can dream it, I can win it.”… The poster is an inducement to buy tickets for the state lottery, … They’re only a dollar apiece, and, as that subway poster says … “Hey, you never know.”… In other words, being able to dream it has nothing to do with being able to win it … needless to say, Barack Obama who has explicitly put hope way up there on the national agenda [ Read More Story...]

Talking to Nader
March 10, 2008 by Editor · Leave a Comment
USA — Ralph Nader announced his selection of San Francisco lawyer and activist Matt Gonzalez as his running mate on February 28. Like Nader, Gonzalez–a former president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors who narrowly lost his 2003 bid to be the first Green Party mayor of a major US city–clearly wants to influence the political debate this election season. Given the chilly media climate for any independent run, [to read more]
